In one of my previous articles, I mentioned that in the current period, due to the global pandemic, people began to use their gadgets more often, and, therefore, more often consume various kinds of media content. This lifestyle disrupts our sleep, as well as all our health if you use a smartphone or any other device that emits light before going to bed.
One study found that poor sleep in a large number of people is directly related to the use of devices, which confirms my words above. The study was conducted in France, and a special online questionnaire was compiled, which allowed scientists to draw certain conclusions. Having studied the responses of the survey participants, the scientists concluded that “the prevalence of sleep problems during the lockdown was notably higher than that reported among the general population in France in 2017” (Léger et al., 2020).
This state of affairs could be caused by many factors, but scientists
note that the increased use of content in conditions of self-isolation led to
the fact that people more often saw negative news and events that upset or
annoy them, which led to negative consequences for their psyche.

Hi Kyrylo, it was interesting to read your blog. There are lots of problems that can be caused by media overuse, but sleep issues is the one that I have. I also noticed, that since lockdown was announced in my city, my sleeping mode just freaked out. Due to the fact I use my phone way more often now, I wake up around 16:00. I have also noticed, that the quality of sleep has decreased. So, thank you for explaining the reasons for these changes, it is clear for me now.
