In the
modern world, many people have their own account in one of the popular social
networks. All the main events, as well as a lot of other information, are there
and many people use social networks to watch the news. Another use case might
be to communicate with other people since almost every social network has its
own built-in messenger. In general, people are very accustomed to using such
applications and sites, and they cannot separate their lives from them.
However, there are people who do not use these resources and do not even have
their own account on the social network for various reasons. The article below
explains why some Canadians have decided to get rid of their daily feed on
various social networks.
The
article claims that avoiding social media can benefit your mental health. For
example, 34-year-old Shaundell Fougere improved her mental state after she
deleted her Instagram and Facebook account due to the fact that these social
networks, like many others, reflect a distorted, improved picture of reality,
and sometimes may not correspond to it at all. The fact is that most often the
videos and photos that are posted in the user profile have little to do with
reality. For example, if a person posts a photo where he drives an expensive
car, this does not mean at all that he is rich and successful. Maybe he just
rented it just for the post on Instagram. And there are a lot of such examples,
so you should not completely trust Instagram users, because in this way they
are trying to increase profile activity and increase the number of likes. Such
misconceptions can lead to depression or other negative consequences for the
psyche, for the reason that people who watch blogs of successful people may
consider themselves a failure or insignificance, which in fact is absolutely
not the case.
All these
problems are somehow correlated with the problem of consuming a huge amount of
content, and they all lead to negative consequences. Therefore, it is important
to show people where they can improve their lives.

I really like the article that you use. It is important to show people that social media overuse has many disadvantages which we often don't realize or we don't want to admit to. In addition, as you mentioned, I think that social media posting totally different versions of people is a huge issue with consequences like people struggling with low-self esteem. I personally spend more time on social media than I should and I will definitely try to control it more after reading your blog.
